Description:

Gabriel put his faith in his God and his king…That was centuries ago.  Harley is proud of her heritage and when she has the chance to give her hometown historical society a boost by booking an eccentric Swiss expert, she has no idea she booked someone who actually lived the history.  Immortality is a long time to have a broken heart.  Unable to stop himself, Gabriel draws the brilliant historian into his life.  Harley discovers far more than Gabriel ever expected about history, his history!  A quest to give Gabriel an answer to an old question will introduce them to the danger of a new enemy.  Is love enough when your love wants you body, soul and blood?

Brandi’s Review:

My one word description of this book, fascinating! What a great story for the birth of vampires.  I've read so many vampire stories, that most of them all seem to mesh together except for the occasional twist on the classic folklore.  I have to admit that for me this back story of Gabriel, once a Templar Knight, and how the entire vampire race came to be was as memorable as the super popular Black Dagger Brotherhood.  I have to admit, I might be one of those people that think at one time vampires and werewolves may have existed, because really how can there be so many stories dating hundreds of years and it not be a little bit of truth? So that aside, I found this a more realistic idea of how it all began and with Gabriel being such a noble and honorable man, you couldn't help but love him.

Then enters the awesome history buff, Harley ( which I can't say I thought the named fit with her parents being educators ) and the instant attraction to Gabriel.  I appreciated how Harley felt and thought of Gabriel because once again, doesn't everyone instantly go right into sexual fantasies when you are THAT attracted to someone? I felt the relationship between the couple grew naturally and honestly.  I love how this story was as realistic as it could be considering it's about vampires.

The only slight negative in my humble opinion was it wasn't long enough.  I could have devoured more of Gabriel's history.  But that fact that this is the first in a series make me very very happy.  Excellent job and very worth the read!
