Babs' Review:
Rowena has moved back home to Ohio to her dead aunt's Victorian home. She wants to start over after her life was turned up side down in Hollywood. When she arrives home, Van Whitney was waiting on her. He wants the job of restoring her aunt's home, and she reluctantly hires him. He use to be a friend until he embarrassed Rowena one day on a bet to kiss her. All the pains of high school came running back. Things start to go well with the house and mending the hurts along the way, until a Ghost Hunter arrives wanting to get inside Rowena's home, as he thinks it is haunted. Mysterious items are found, lights go on and off, sounds in the night, all of this makes Rowena and Van a little nervous.
I loved the story it has everything going for it, romance, mystery and suspense. There is a touch of humor as well. Rowena and Van's characters work well with each other as their relationship grows. There are some misunderstandings and hurt feelings along the way they have to work out. I wanted to see how they were going to proceed with the house and the broken hearts.
As I was reading I felt I was in Ohio going along for the ride. The author did a wonderful job with the setting. It was easy to picture myself there along with Rowena and her friends.
I was thrilled to read about the cheerleaders. People can change, but some stay the same. I will be re-reading this book for years to come. This is a must read.
