Description:

Sassy Callie Dubeck not only has a mind of her own, but when she makes up that mind, there’s no deterring her. After breaking things off with her fiancé and escaping New York and his wrath with her best friend, Eva, she heads back home to El Paso, Texas where her family lives and owns a ranch. In addition to Callie’s wise grandfather and protective brothers, the man Callie really loves and who has made it crystal clear that he doesn’t return her feelings, awaits her.

In a moment of truth, Cade kisses Callie with all the pent up passion he’s kept hidden for years, and she realizes that he’s not quite as indifferent to her as he’d proclaimed. That’s all the encouragement Callie needs to make up her mind to have Cade, with or without his cooperation. But will her mindset overturn his conviction that they don’t belong together? And when danger chases after Callie, will Cade be able to protect her while keeping her at arm’s length?

Babs' Review:

Callie use to be a model and was going to marry Richard, but decided he was not the right person for her and called it off. Richard was none too happy about this and started hitting her around her friend’s apartment.  Eva tried to help and finally got him knocked out.  Callie was very appreciative to Eva.  Eva is married to Richard's brother and told Callie all about James hitting here and abusing her not just physically, but mentally as well.  Callie talked Eva into moving away to Texas right then and there and they both take off.

Eva is scared as James has come after her before and told her he would kill her if she tried it again.  They do reach Texas and that is where the fun begins for these two ex-models and friends.

This book was wonderful. I did not want to put it down as I wanted to know what was going to happen next. With the twists, thrills, suspense and even hot romance, this book if for everyone.  I do hope the author plans to write more books as I would be happy to read them.
