When I first started reading romance novels, I swear I didn't sleep more then ten hours in the first week, I could not put them down. Now, it's takes something I'm either extremely excited about, or an exceptional book. I started reading this as soon as my kids went to bed one evening, and didn't stop until I was done. It made the getting everyone up and ready for school a fun time, OK not really but was very worth it.
I can't remember the last time I literally wanted to curl up and just live in a book I was reading. This story of Lucien, Sam and Ollie was in a word, beautiful. I'm not a huge fan of over dramatics, but Lucien's angst was real and not forced which is one of the main reasons I enjoyed this so much. On top of being just an awesome complex character, Lucien was the guy you wanted to love and most of all you wanted him to win. I loved Sam, to the point that I wanted to be Sam. Sam, along with the amazing Ollie were just such well written characters that you wanted to be friends with them, be a part of their life. The dynamic between the three really tied this whole story together in a big beautiful shiny bow that makes it feel like a gift to be a part of.
And if my gushing wasn't obnoxious enough, Laura Kaye's sub characters which were Lucien family, or coven, were just so lovely as well. I hope that Ms. Kaye decides to write the stories of the already mated couples, and even maybe of Lucien's past. Because I would gladly lose sleep for them. And you should too.
