Description:

Lara Crosby left Chicago when her career as a big-time political fundraiser went sour. Determined to put the past behind her, she envisions a peaceful new life at her cabin in northern Minnesota. Everything changes on a dark night when a mysterious stranger suffers an accident outside her cabin.

Jacob Sumner awakens in the wilderness after a car accident with no idea who he is or why he is there. Lara is beautiful and kind, but she's a world away from the gritty world where he makes his living as a private investigator . . . or is she?

Babs' Review:

Lara is out on her own in Ely, Minnesota. She has moved from Chicago for various reasons: her political fund-raiser, career, and her parents. She freelances to get her income going. When she left her parents she left all their money as well. One night, she was walking outside and found an SUV crashed at the end of her driveway. She did not know the driver, but helped him all the same. The stranger could not remember who he was or why he was even there. We come to learn his name is Jacob. Lara and Jacob team up together to see why someone is after Jacob or after Lara and what their connection is.

I enjoyed the characters Lara and Jacob - they were well written. Each one brings some strength to the story to make it rock. With a few twists and turns, the book comes out nicely. I figured out before the end who was behind the the problems, but that did not take away from the read at all.  The romance, and the mystery, was just right.

I will definitely be looking for more books by this author.
